To the question of a role of contention in the theory of natural selection

Without dispute the fundamental foundations of Charles Darwin's theory of natural selection, the author notes the general vulnerability of one of its main factors - selection, which definitions are quite different neither in Russian nor in foreign scientific tradition. From the one side, foreign scientists put in the basis of definition «selection» the mechanisms of competition, which is interpreted within the concept «Social-Darwinism». From the other side, noting that the society does not obey the biological laws completely, russian scientists offered their own vision of Darwin's theory. It ignores intraspecific contradictions and emphasizes collectivism and mutual adaptation of antagonistic principles. Thus, this article is devoted to the difference of these approaches, the analysis of their mutual problems.
