On the role of political parties under conditions of modern transformations in Russia

Political parties constitute an important tool for implementing the political life of society and the chosen strategy for the country's development. A democratic society cannot form a political system that excludes political parties. The topical issue is to form the priority direction of development and implementation of political parties' activities under the conditions of political course transformation, modern realities of the country's life, expansion of sanctions, and restructuring of social life. The activities of political parties are influenced not only by the external environment in the world arena, but also by the internal processes occurring in society, the peculiarities of digitalization and informatization. Today it is important to clarify the priorities and roles of political parties in the system of political power, especially in the context of low popularity and public awareness of the political parties' activities, as well as the need to identify ways to adapt to the radical changes taking place in international relations. The novelty of the research lies in the new analysis of the key specifics of political parties' activities, issues of citizens' participation in elections, as well as the prospects for the development of the country's party system.
