On the Issue of the Formation and Development of Electrical Engineering Science in Russia in the 1920-1930s

The study, based on archival materials, published documents and memoirs of scientists in the fi eld of electrical engineering, reveals the features of the development of electrical engineering in the 1920s and 1930s in Russia. The author highlights the most important areas of development of electrical engineering science and industry, and proves the signifi cance of the decisions of the Soviet government in the fi eld of electrical engineering armament of the country’s industry and the training of technical specialists. articular attention is paid to the creation and formation of the All-Russian Electrotechnical Institute, and to the contribution of scientists from the Moscow Higher Technical School to the formation of the scientifi c leadership of the new institute, as well as to the development of scientifi c research. The results of the study of documents indicate that, despite the material and technical diffi culties in the establishment of laboratories and departments of the All-Russian Electrotechnical Institute, the formation of scientifi c schools and the development of institute proceeded consistently and steadily.
