On the problem of the typology of the regional press

The article is devoted to highlighting the problems of classification and typology of publications of the regional press. The reasons for changes in traditional classification systems are noted, the main of which is the emergence of online versions of publications. The synonymous terms "regional", "local", "small" press are considered. The main characteristics are singled out, which are inherent only to regional periodicals, which can serve as the basis for further (not based only on a territorial basis) typology.
