Trade relations of the Russian empire with Kashmir, Punjab and Tibet in the second half of the XVIII - first half of the XIX centuries

The development of Russian trade and economic relations with eastern countries in the second half of the XVIII - first half of the XIX centuries made some new Asian territories the sphere of interests of the Russian trade capital. The external economic links of St. Petersburg stretched to Kashmir, Punjab and Tibet. The active Russian trade in this region met the opposition from the British colonial authorities in India. In the middle of the XIX century the commercial rivalry between Russia and Britain eventually led to delimitation of the spheres of influence in the north of Southern Asia.
