On the interpretation of the term ‘preventive conservation’

The article examines the versatility of the concept «preventive conservation». A brief summary of the development and analysis of the current state of this area is provided. The author emphasizes the weak practical and theoretical development of preventive conservation methods, the lack of methodological literature in Russian. Based on the materials reviewed, ways to resolve the current situation in our country are given.
