On the issue of compensation for damage in the event of natural, man-made and social emergencies

The article deals with the concept of an emergency situation, its features, and the legal basis for compensation for damage caused as a result of natural, man-made and social emergencies. The author points out the shortcomings of legal regulation in this area, in particular, the lack of a clear mechanism for determining the amount of payments to a specific victim. According to the author, the issues of targeted expenditure of funds received for compensation for harm, individual approach in determining the amount of compensation for victims (taking into account their marital status, income level, etc.) need to be regulated by law. It is proposed to regulate these issues in the Federal law “on protection of the population and territories from natural and man-made emergencies”.
