To the question of sprout zonality: a case of Acer negundo l

Many trees show the match of the upper elementary systems of sprouts. We developed a mathematic apparatus along with considerable statistic data to explain this situation. 86 two-year old sprout systmes of A. negundo from three populations of Belgorod and Leningrad Regions are described. The analysis of the major components of the co-vatiation matrix brought the systm of strong correlations between lengths of the internodal regions both upper and lower end of the sprout. This phenomen leads to the greater similarity in the distribution of the marginal internodal regions in sprouts of different ages. This is also true for the origin and the location of the sprout in the canopy.
