The article deals with some little known aspects of the anti-alcohol campaign carried out during Perestroika. Special attention is paid to the study of central periodical medical publications, theoretical and ideological views of Soviet medical workers in the field of social hygiene. On the basis of the study of documents from the regional archive, the author analyses activities for sobriety of some associations. The paper reviews the mechanisms of discussion and decision-making aimed at liquidation of alcoholism in work collectives. Administrative and social range of actions is described.
