The current paper presents objective frequency analysis of the derivatives that result from form-building and word-building processes involving 2 stems, namely -фонем- and -слог-, in the works of 6 linguists, 3 of them representing Lev Shcherba’s Phonological School - Yu.S. Maslov, V.B. Kasevich, L.R. Zinder, the other 3 representing Moscow Phonological School - A.A. Reformatsky, M.V. Panov, V.V. Ivanov. The obtained results enabled to reveal common features, particularly, natural prevalence of form-building derivatives over word-building derivatives and high frequency of Genitive Case forms, and specific features, particularly, more words with both stems in the works of Shcherba’s School compared to Moscow School as well as different frequency of certain derivatives and inflexions. The discovered facts could be used as objective markers to help attribute a phonetic/phonological text to a certain author or school reflecting certain linguistic interests in the field.
