On the problem of using biofuels in diesel engines

Бесплатный доступ

The article considers the prerequisites for the use of vegetable oils and esters as biofuels for diesel engines. The replacement of petroleum fuels with renewable fuels will significantly reduce the toxicity of exhaust gases and improve the environment in urban and rural areas. Physico-chemical properties of esters obtained by treating vegetable oils with alcohols are close to the properties ofpetroleum diesel fuels. This means that biofuels obtained on their basis, with a standard supply to the combustion chamber with the help of injection pump, can form a fuel-air mixture in a minimum time, providing easy ignition, smooth and complete combustion with a minimum content of soot and toxic products of elements in commercial exhaust gases. The fuel supply system must not allow the formation ofprecipitates and deposits on the engine parts.
