To the question about using the terms «self-plagiat» and «duplicating (excessive) publications»: content, sense and legal aspects

Бесплатный доступ

In recent years, the term "self-plagiarism" has been actively used in modern scientific literature as a concept defining the phenomenon of multiple publications in the scientific environment. Based on the analysis of the content and semantic aspects of this concept, the article shows the incorrectness and redundancy of this term and suggests the use of the term «duplicate (redundant) publications» actively used in international standards of publication ethics. This term should be understood as multiple publication by the author or authors of a previously published study without a full reference to a previously published work. It is concluded that the facts of «duplicate» excessive" publication should be considered simultaneously as cases of "abuse of law" and serious violations of moral and ethical character.
