On the history of the formation and development of criminology as a science

Today, the importance of criminology as a science is determined by the diversity of its content. It is designed to comprehensively investigate crime as a historically variable, mass, social and illegal phenomenon, which is why the tasks of criminology as a science are to study the causes and conditions of the commission of crimes, the individual characteristics of the criminal’s personality, as well as to determine ways to prevent crimes. The article briefly analyzes the process of criminology formation as a science within the pre-revolutionary, Soviet and modern stages, which had a significant impact on the content of this science at the present stage of its development.
