Changing the level of public funding to political parties

The research deals with the changes in the level of direct public funding to political parties in the Russian Federation. Russian public spending is of particular relevance in the modern economic terms. The study discusses the models and types of parties funding and the funding sources. While analyzing the consolidated financial statements of political parties, the author reveals that the parties that are widely supported by the population increasingly depend on state subsidies. As a result, they lose their independence when making political decisions. With respect to the institution of public funds, nowadays, the growth of political competition and the development of the political system in the country as a whole are hardly possible. The author highlights that the indirect public funding should be developed as it serves as a tool for providing equal treatment to parties.
