On the study of commemorative plaques as a practice of commemorating the memorial heritage on the material of the city of Ulan-Ude

The authors consider a memorial plaque as a commemorative sign translating the memorial heritage of the cities. Such plaques perpetuate and tell about outstanding people and significant events; introduce diversity into the city architectural landscape. The article gives the analysis of the existing definitions of the concept «a memorial plaque» in the national historiography. The attempt to systematize memorial plaques according to their types, genres, quantitative and qualitative characteristic of Ulan-Ude city on the basis of the materials of the city of Ulan-Ude have been made for the first time.
