Traditional genres of historical folklore of the Russian dwellers (legends, oral stories) collectively represent one of the main markers (along with the language) of ethnic identity of the Russians in a non-ethnic environment. The article examines the legends and oral stories of the residents of the village Khasurta, reflecting the complex ethnoconfessional situation that has developed in the village in connection with the numerous interethnic marriages of the Old Believers and the Buryats. The opposition "The Old Believers - Orthodox/Siberians" manifested itself especially vividly in the material under study.
