The task of increasing the resource efficiency of production systems is placed among the priority areas of industrial development of the Russian economy. The purpose of the article is, based on studying the features of the development of the mineral resource base of Russian industry, to identify trends and relationships between indicators of resource efficiency of production systems, which will make it possible to formulate the contours of management decisions that increase the efficiency and competitiveness of industrial production as a whole. Among the research methods used: description, analysis, calculation of descriptive statistics, correlation and regression analysis, visualization. Based on the results of the study, conclusions were drawn: the development of the mineral resource base of production systems is influenced by external and internal threats that require neutralization through the use of new strategies, technologies and production methods; the resource productivity of water and forest resources has a steady growth trend, however, the resource productivity of fuel and energy resources has been declining in recent years; the output index was ahead of the labor productivity index, which may indirectly indicate the dominance of the extensive mode of production; a positive relationship has been proven between the industrial output index and the labor productivity index. The results obtained can be used to make management decisions in matters of improving production systems in the industry of the Russian economy.
