The article discusses the fundamental meanings, goals and objectives of the training course "Fundamentals of Orthodox Culture" as one of the modules of the school discipline "Fundamentals of World Religious Cultures and Secular Ethics". The authors discuss the relevance of introducing this course into the program of educational institutions of the Russian Federation and analyze its importance for the personal development of students and some features of implementation in the conditions of modern school. The paper highlights the need for interdisciplinary integration to achieve the effectiveness of mastering the module "Fundamentals of Orthodox Culture" with other school disciplines, including Music, The World, Russian Language, Literary Reading, and Visual Arts. The article stresses the importance of organizing systematic work with schoolchildren in the study of the Fundamentals of Orthodox Culture, which includes lessons, extracurricular activities and various forms of pedagogical interaction with parents. The authors briefly describe the methods and forms used in the classroom for this course, as well as the role of the teacher in the process of spiritual and moral development of schoolchildren. A special place in the article is given to a brief description of the fundamental national values, which are the main reference points in the work in the classroom in the module "Fundamentals of Orthodox Culture".
