The purpose of the article is to analyze the peculiarities of psychological and pedagogical conditions necessary for the successful formation of reading skills in a foreign language at the middle stage of school education. The article deals with the problem of the organization of psychological and pedagogical conditions for the formation of reading skills in a foreign language in high school. The formation of reading skills in a foreign language will be effective in the organization of the following psychological and pedagogical conditions: the implementation of the principle of individual approach to learning; taking into account communicative ways of mastering reading skills; development of students speech activity motivation to learn. The use of communicative and linguosociocultural methods of reading skills formation in the process of learning English are analyzed.
