To the question about the military unit «Pedget» of the Egyptian field army in the period of XVIII-XIX dynasties

The author analyzes the debatable problem of the existence of a “pdt” military formations in Egyptian field army in the period of New Kingdom in the fight for the Sirya and Palestine. The attention is focused on the command hierarchy, military organization, management and number of these units in Egyptian field army of New Kingdom. The study and analysis of historical sources allow the author to conclude that during the period of the XVIII-XIX dynasties in the field army of the New Kingdom, the “pdt” formation usually had not an arbitrary organization, as a number of researchers now believe, but a fixed permanent structure of 4 “sa” companies of 200 warriors each.
