On the issue of establishing all-Russian system of weight measures in Transcaucasia: historical and legal aspect

The author’s intention was to study the uniformity of measurements, as well as a regulatory legal act establishing the legal basis for ensuring the uniformity of measurements in the South Caucasus. Historical and legal excursus was conducted and official documents regulating issues related to one of seven basic units of the international system of units - weight - in the Russian Empire, as well as relevant narrative materials were analyzed. On the basis of historiography, the opportunity to study the state of metrology in the other outskirts of the Russian Empire was presented. On their example, a comparative legal study of the development of ensuring the uniformity of measurements was carried out. On specific material, it was shown how, under the influence of economic needs and human factors, Transcaucasia at the beginning of the 19-th century was included in the zone of distribution of metrological legislation of the Russian Empire, and general imperial measure of weight and supervision of measures were introduced...
