On the issue of China's sustainable gastronomic worldview

On the basis of a hermeneutic approach, the present paper shows trends in the development of China's gastronomic worldview and its current state. The sustainability of the Celestial Empire's culinary traditions is noted, which contributes to the cultural safety of the nation. “Peking Duck” is positioned in the paper as a phenomenon that has accumulated the cultural meanings of several generations, which confirms its consideration in different contexts - technological, political, economic, daily, festive - giving it a special cultural significance, which leads to its acquisition of the status of an object of intangible cultural heritage of the country. It is noted that the traditions and innovations of culinary art coexist in the gastronomic space of the Celestial Empire, allowing it to simultaneously preserve the national cultural heritage and modernize in accordance with the needs of citizens. Conclusion is drawn that the Chinese people's gastronomic worldview supports the country's national identity, which turns out to be extremely important in the context of total globalization.
