Issues of defining the main tasks of the internal affairs in ensuring national security

Introduction . The issues of effective functioning of the national security system are crucial for the normal functioning of the modern State and society. There are no specific works devoted to defining the tasks of the internal affairs bodies in this system, as well as their reflection in the strategic planning documents and regulatory legal acts of the Russian Federation. Results. The content of the system of strategic planning documents containing the tasks of the internal affairs bodies to ensure national security is disclosed, as well as the threats to public security that are countered by the internal affairs bodies are identified. Conclusions. As a result of studying this problem, the author came to the following conclusion: the unity of the system of strategic planning and public administration is fundamentally important to ensure, including in a single centralized system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, which would increase the effectiveness of the activities of the internal affairs bodies to ensure national security in the following areas: ensuring the personal safety of citizens, public safety, protection of property and public order, protection of the rights and legitimate interests of citizens and organizations from criminal and other illegal encroachments, implementation of the prevention and suppression of crimes, their investigation and disclosure, as well as the search and identification of the perpetrators.
