To the problem of pathogenesis of basal-cell skin cancer recurrences

Parameters of antioxidant system of the organism have been analyzed in 48 patients with basal-cell skin cancer without recurrences and in 21 patients matched for clinical parameters but having basal-cell skin cancer with long-term follow-up recurrence. In the group with recurrences, initially low concentration of vitamins E and A in lymphocytes and their alternate level in neutrophiles have been determined. After treatment, coefficient of accumulation of vitamin A in lymphocytes, neutrophiles and erythrocytes of blood of group II patients remains 2,6; 4,9 and 1,6 times higher than the normal limits, respectively and 2,2; 4,3 and 2 times higher compared to group I patients. These changes correlate with enzyme parameters in tumor tissue. More radical treatment is advisable for patients with basal-cell skin cancer having revealed deviations.
