To the question of improving the model legislation on state secrets in the framework of CIS IPA

Regulation of protection of state secrets in the laws of the countries of the CIS is largely similar. In the model law state secrets are divided into two components - state and official secrets. A unified approach to the definition of state secrets, and their correlation with the official secret has not been developed yet. There are differences in the approaches to the legislative definition of the categories of information which are prohibited to be referred to state secrets, to the deadline of classifying information as a secret one, and others. In view of convergence and harmonization of legislation the CIS member states are developing the Commentary to the Model Law on State Secrets.
