LIFE QUALITY IN YOUNG PATIENTS WITH CERVICAL CANCER AFTER RADICAL TREATMENT E.A. Ulrich, Z.A. Tambieva, G.F. Kutusheva, O.N. Mikheeva, A.F. Urmancheeva Saint-Petersburg State Medical Pediatric Academy1, Saint-Petersburg Medical Academy of Postgraduate Studies2 Life quality of 180 patients with stage I-II cervical cancer who underwent surgery (35 patients), combined modality treatment (45 patients) and concurrent radiation therapy (20 patients) was analyzed. Diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer were followed by various psychological disturbances. At the diagnosis, all patients experienced high or moderate reactive anxiety and 99,0 % of patients had high and moderate personal anxiety. The level of anxiety was progressively decreased in all patients during and after treatment, however, it was getting more slowly in patients treated with concurrent radiation therapy. The level of «physical well-being» according to FACT-G was reduced during the treatment in all clinical groups and returned to the initial levels 3 months after surgical and combined treatments and 9 months after concurrent radiation therapy. Family support, especially husband, role is of great importance for medical and social rehabilitation. Concerning «social-family well-being», the reduction in values was observed only in patients treated with concurrent radiation therapy (3 months after treatment), whereas the values remained unchanged in patients receiving surgical and combined treatments.
