The article is devoted to the study of qualitative and quantitative disorders of thinking in cases of local brain lesions in patients with aphasia. The study involved 25 people aged 61 to 78 years who are on treatment at the Center for Pathology of Speech and Neurorehabilitation named after V.M. Shklovsky. To study the thinking methods were used: "Cubes Nikitina", "Interpretation of proverbs and metaphors", "Sequence of plot pictures", "Essentials signs". During the study, it was revealed that the defeat of the II functional block of the brain is characterized by a decrease in the level of generalization and a difficulty in understanding the portable sense. With the complex defeat of II and III functional blocks of the brain, the leading role in the picture of thinking disorders is played by the defeat of the III functional block of the brain, which manifests itself in the inertness of mental processes and violation of self-regulation.
