Quality of urban environment as a factor of sustainable community development

This paper discusses formation the quality of the urban environment as a key factor in improving the competitiveness of municipalities and their sustainable development. Based on domestic and foreign experience highlights the main elements of sustainable urban development. The author’s classification of elements of the urban environment to evaluate their quality and efficiency of municipal administration. The basic directions of activity of the municipal government to improve the quality of urban environment, taking into account the powers of municipal government in this area.
