The authors investigate the problem of legal education within the scientific line. Knowledge of the problem in this aspect allows us not to limit ourselves to judgments about the methodology and didactics of the educational process, making it possible to touch upon the normative and professional value of legal knowledge as special knowledge. Taking into account the fact that higher legal education is intended for the formation of complex and advanced knowledge in the student, among the criteria forming this value, the authors include such tools of educational professionalization as the development of students’ ability to look at the law not from the outside, but to see themselves as part of this cultural and political phenomenon; qualified possession of terminological skills when working with the official language of law, excluding the surface, inaccuracy, example of the terminology used; the ability to integrate educational knowledge into a “pandect template” that controls the system of already acquired legal knowledge and prospective knowledge. Working with these pedagogical tools should be based on the maxim “be able to know the law”. Such a skill is formed by the university, acting according to the canons of modern professional teaching, which consist in liberality, positivity, politeness, competence.
