Quality of life in patients after the creation of artificial complete atrioventricular heart block and pacemaker implantation

The study assessed the quality of life in patients with various forms of drugresistant atrial fibrillation after the creation of artificial complete atrioventricular (AV) heart block and implantation of rateadaptive pacemaker. The generic EQ5D questionnaire was used to assess the quality of life in patients in the late postoperative period after they underwent surgical AV radiofrequency ablation and received implantation of the rateadaptive pacemaker. All interviewees reported about the presence of health problems with varying degrees of severity; patients ability to move and daily living activities were compromised the most. The incidence rate of a health condition presented with motion disabilities, selfcare and daily living activity impairment, severe pain and discomfort, and severe anxiety and depression was the highest.
