The quality of life is usually substantially altered in patients with intracranial aneurysm ( IA) after their treatment. Our study will try to describe the quality of life of these patients and discover which variables may predict the deterioration in quality of life. The participants were 50 patients with IA, who had undergone surgical treatment (clipping or coiling) in our hospital. The instrument used to measure the quality of life is the SF-36. The SF-36 health questionnaire was retrospectively applied to these patients in 2-12 months after operation. The predictor variables introduced into the multiple linear regressions are neurological condition on admission (Hunt and Hess scale), sex, age, the Glasgow Outcome Scale on release. We measured the impact of treatment of aneurysms by clipping or coiling on quality of life. The high score on GOS and being male are predictors for unaffected quality of life. There was no difference between coiling or clipping in deterioration on quality of life. Quality of life was found to be compromised in patients, who had undergone surgery during the acute stage of subarachnoid hemorrhage. There was no dependence of quality of life on the patient's age.
