How President Rogachev Relieved the «Tension» of Jurists: about the Meeting of Lawyers with Jurists in Nizhny Novgorod

The article provides a critical analysis of the actions and statements of Nikolay Rogachev, President of the Bar Association of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, during his meeting with representatives of the legal community. Although presented as an «open dialogue», the meeting was in fact a PR campaign aimed at legitimizing the controversial bill on the so-called «lawyer`s monopoly» and suppressing criticism. The author identifies key manipulative strategies, including the illusion of dialogue, minimizing financial and social costs, justifying state control over the legal profession, semantic substitutions, and discrediting dissent. Special attention is given to the risks of losing the independence of the bar and violating the rights of lawyers and citizens. Rogachev’s speech is seen as an illustration of the state’s capture of the legal profession and the disorientation of the professional community.
