Final middle Paleolithic stone industry from the Darvagchai-zaliv-1 site (South Eastern Dagestan): the new data

This article presents the archaeological data on the Final Middle Paleolithic complex from the Darvagchai geoarchaeological area. These data supplement the factual material of this cultural and chronological range at the territory of North Eastern Caucasus. The Levallois knapping technique and typical Middle Paleolithic tool assemblage characterize the lithic material of this cultural chronological complex from the Darvagchai-zaliv-1 site. The special technical and typological character of the lithic industry with strongly marked Levallois traits supposes the specific character of the Paleolithic in Seaside Dagestan. This study of the Final Middle Paleolithic allows standing closer to solution to problem of appearance and development of the modern human type. It allows reconstructing the cultural and historical process at this territory during Neo-Pleistocene and solving out the problem of content and boundaries of the cultural chronological Paleolithic epochs in the Caucasus and Aral-Caspian Basin generally.
