Stone Weights, Plugs and Other Goods from the Polyanka Settlement Excavations

Бесплатный доступ

Finds of stone items are not numerous, they include around a dozen and a half dozen of stone items whose function is difficult to determine. They are all made of hard stones and have a discoid, spherical, subcylindrical, truncated-conical or subcubic form. Some of them are likely to have been used as sling missiles while others were some sort of relics of Bronze Age local cultures (hammers, small anvils, and macehead blanks); some were balance weights. We cannot rule out that some of the items had sacral meaning. In other words, they were not used as amphora plugs or lids, though in some rare cases (stone or ceramic) plugs were found during the excavations.
