The author analyzes the evolution of treatment of Kants practical philosophy by Ronald Dworkin, who in his early works advanced general criticism, and in his late works came to adapt some important Kantian ideas to his own version of liberal egalitarianism. Dworkins interpretation is aimed at finding a solution to fundamental problem of contemporary liberalism - that of balancing moral and political individualism with universal principles. His interpretation seems more precise in treating Kants key concepts than that of John Rawls, this interpretation, while not being detailed and thorough, makes an important step towards resolving the tension between the individual and the universal while adhering to the key principles of liberal philosophy - rights, liberties, human dignity.
Individualism, universalism, autonomy, freedom, liberty, dignity, liberal egalitarianism
