Catastrophic antiphospholipid syndrome (CAFS) is the most heavy form antiphospholypid syndrome (AFS), the study of which presents significant difficulties. There are no prospective controlled studies directed at studying CAFS, and our knowledge about this problem is founded only on a description of clinical cases and reviews. This article presents a broad review of the available knowledge of CAFS aethiopathogenesis, its clinical manifestations; main principles of appropriate treatment of this pregnancy pathology are also considered.
