Categorial emotive situation of envy

Emotions accompany a person everywhere, they arise spontaneously, as a person’s reaction to a certain external factor. It is known that emotions can be positive, such as joy or delight, and negative, such as anger. Envy happens to be among the little-known emotional states of a person. It is differently understood by psychologists. The given article is an attempt to analyze the categorical emotional situation of envy using the material of the English language, including both the explanatory dictionaries of the English language and one of the novels by the Ch. Dickens. The relevance of the article lies, first of all, in the choice of the topic, because linguistic studies of the type concerning the given topic are not very numerous.
