The analysis of the phenomenon of the cultural and historical memory and the ideas of the development of the civic identity allows to define the axiological content of the national education. There is presented the attempt of the historical and pedagogical reconstruction of the phenomenon of the cultural and historical memory in reference to the category of the civic identity and the related ideas of the nationality, the civic identity and the civic and patriotic education in the native pedagogical heritage.
