Politeness in Arabic

The article is devoted to the category of politeness in Arabic. The reasons to study politeness are examined, the general definition of politeness is given, various theories of politeness are presented, the understanding of politeness in Arab culture is clarified, various means of expressing politeness in Arabic are given, and the close connection between means of expressing politeness in Arabic and Arab cultural values is discussed.
