Chinese opera as an intangible cultural heritage of China

The article is devoted to the history of formation and development of Chinese Beijing Opera. Its specific character and the history of penetration into the Western culture are described. The author emphasizes the contribution of Chinese artist Mei Lanfang to the preservation of the Peking Opera as an intangible cultural heritage of China. Protecting Chinese traditional culture and keeping the spirit of the Chinese nation, the Chinese Opera introduces the Chinese history and the culture of the East to the world. The western culture assimilates only some elements of the Chinese opera.
