The article is devoted to the analysis of gold mining industry development features in the territory of the Far Eastern Republic in the 1920s - 1930s. In the Far East of the USSR, an accelerated development of industry began taking into account the specifics of the Far Eastern region. Own productive forces were not enough to satisfy the demand for personnel. Therefore, it was decided to import two thousand Chinese and Koreans for the needs of the gold mining industry of the Far East. Attracting of the migrants to work caused a number of problems. First, despite the efforts of the authorities, the need for workers was not completely satisfied. Second, the process of recruiting and attracting Chinese workers caused the growth of violations of the law: from violations of migration legislation to the growth of corruption in the industry. Quite an acute problem were manifestations of chauvinism on the part of the Russian population, which in some cases resulted in mass beatings of Chinese workers. With a general deficit of workers, such situation could not stimulate the growth of industrial production. Worsening of the Soviet-Chinese relations in the given period also played an important role. The marked problems were the reason for slowing the pace of economic development in the 1920s - 1930s in the Far East.
