The paper publishes a rare numismatic find. In 2024, during archaeological excavations at the Maeotian settlement of Maryanskoye 1 (Krasnodar Territory, Krasnoarmeyskiy district), a Cyzicene stater was discovered It bears an image of Silenus peering into an amphora (cf. Baldwin Brett, 1955. No. 1507). The stater dates back to 460-400 BC. A rare find indicates the involvement of the Lower Kuban Maeotian rural settlements into large-scale grain trade along the Kuban River to Bosporus, from where it was exported, first of all, to Athens. In return, the Maeotian settlements received Greek goods that passed via Phanagoria and further along this waterway to the inland areas of the Kuban region.
