Kyakhta and the northern route of the Great Tea Road

The article describes the role of Kyakhta in the history of The Great Tea Road. Based on historical documents, scientific articles and archival materials we present the results of studying the part of Kyakhta city and the Kyakhta Bureau of The Russian-American Company in development of the northern route of The Great Tea Road. A full retrospective analysis of functioning the markets for furs, tea, etc. have been carried out. The article describes the scale of these markets functioning and the stages of their formation in details. The complete picture of events, facts and historical references allow us to speak with firmness about the importance of Kyakhta city in foreign economic activity of The Russian Empire.
