Classical strategies to explain the key foundations of the financial modeling: gap analysis, ways to improve the efficiency and reduce the training time

The article describes the features of the classical teaching strategy for subjects related to business planning and financial modeling. The author, having sufficient experience in explaining the main aspects of these disciplines to students, graduates, and working professionals conducted an analysis of the reasons for misunderstanding a number of terms and definitions. As a result of the analysis it was found that the reasons for misunderstanding of students are rooted in errors characteristic of classical strategies for teaching. This article proposes methods for eliminating such errors and provides theoretical justification for the application of these recommendations which mainly consist in the correct structuring of materials presented in the first lectures. Conclusions are also made that the proposed recommendations are also appropriate in reducing the time of teaching the subject without a significant loss in the quality of knowledge.
