The article examines the features of state classification based on climatic and geographical characteristics. It is noted that modern approaches to analyzing the natural-zonal differentiation of territories take into account climatic, landscape, and resource factors, providing a more accurate and detailed classification through the use of GIS technologies and global databases. It has been revealed that the impact of climate changes at the regional level plays a significant role in shaping the classification. Special attention is paid to the recreational potential of territories as an additional classification criterion. The conclusion is made that the developed comprehensive classification can be used for sustainable development strategies and international cooperation in environmental protection.
