The quality of fingerprint cards with palm image has been examined. The main component of fingerprint cards quality depends on the quality of fingerprinting. Low quality fingerprint cards with palm image have been classified. 18 indicators of palm image quality have been identified. The author's definition of the term «fingerprinting technique» has been presented. All these achievements make it possible to optimize measures taken to improve the quality of fingerprint cards that affects the coding of images in automatic fingerprint information system (AFIS) and its search engine characteristic of reliability, selectivity and speed.
