Classifi cation of Mobile Devices in Forensics (Based on ICT)

This article considers the classification of mobile devices taking into account existing technical and regulatory approaches, as well as modern trends in the development of information and telecommunication technologies. The author emphasizes the relevance of the topic: mobile devices are integrated into all spheres of life, contain various types of information of forensic interest, and require expert analysis when solving and investigating crimes. The paper analyzes domestic and international classifiers, including the All-Russian Classifier of Products by Types of Economic Activity and the Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity of the Eurasian Economic Union, and also notes the specifics of their application in forensic commodity examination. Particular attention is paid to the need to update existing classifications taking into account the rapid development of mobile technologies and the digitalization of society. It is proposed to take into account not only economic and commodity criteria, but also the forensic specifics of mobile devices, including functional, design, software and hardware features. The author lists the grounds for classifying devices: case design, communication method, number of case screens, presence and number of SIM cards, type of mobile operating system. In conclusion, the importance of further improvement of classifications for increasing the efficiency of forensic examination is emphasized.
