Clinical features of paranoid schizophrenia, comorbid with a syndrome of dependence on the use of cannabinoids (the beginning of cannabinoid use before the manifestation of paranoid schizophrenia)

Dependence on cannabinoids, reaching almost 10% in the general population, represents a primary threat to society, therefore researchers are legitimately interested in the study of the formation of mental disorders due to the use of cannabinoids. Material and Methods. For this study, a group of patients (113 persons) has been selected with the diagnosis of “paranoid schizophrenia” (the experience of the disease has been more than 5 years), comorbid syndrome with dependence on cannabinoid use, with the start of cannabinoid use before the onset of the disease. The following methods are used: clinical-psychopathological method (assessment of mental status, PANSS scale, PSP scale), the clinical-dynamic method. Results. According to the results of the study, it is found that the mean age at which cannabinoids have been started in the main group of patients is 12±3 years. The leading symptoms of patients of the main group are affective instability, accompanied by periodic causeless undifferentiated aggression, with a pronounced amotivation component.
