This article describes a clinical case of biogilmentosis found in a region in which opisthorchiasis is rare. All species characteristic of human infection are considered. The prevalence, structure of opisthorchia, as well as the life cycle and pathogenesis of the disease are described in detail. Despite the typical prevalence characteristic of the identified regions, this biohelminthiasis can be found in other areas. Our task is to identify it and conduct differential diagnostics based on epidemiological history, complaints, objective and instrumental data. When faced with an atypical patient, it is important to properly build an examination plan in order to prescribe a specific therapy. As a consequence, we avoid the adverse effects of opisthorchiasis.
