The article presents the literature review data and the material of the authors' own research, which reveals the phenomenon of suicidal behavior in people who are dependent on synthetic cathinones (SC) - a new generation of “designer” synthetic drugs. The main similarities and differences of the pathogenetic neurobiological mechanisms of the formation of addictive and suicidal behavior are described. The aim of the article id to analyze the association of suicidal behavior and anxiety, and to identify their prevalence among those addicted to synthetic cathinones. Material and Methods: 349 people were examined, including 182 men (23.7±0.8 y.o.) with a developed addiction to stimulants (F15.2) and 167 healthy individuals (22.8±0.6 y.o.). The clinical and psychopathological method was used to evaluate suicidal behavior and anxiety at various stages of intoxication with synthetic cations. Additionally, a genetic study was conducted. DNA was isolated (phenol-chloroform method) and the frequency distribution of genotypes and alleles of the polymorphic loci rs63l3 of the HTR2A gene and rs6296 of the HTRlB gene was analyzed, and the association of the results of genotyping with individual forms of suicidal behavior was determined...
